Frederick County, Maryland has determined that contractors who submit bids on this project must be prequalified. Contractors interested in bidding this project are required to complete a Prequalification Questionnaire. Scope of work: Site Work: Full-depth pavement, existing sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and signage/post removal. New full-depth asphalt, grading utilities, concrete sidewalk, curbs, gutters, and signage/post installation. Building Renovation: The project scope of work includes removal and replacement of the main plumbing lines and light fixtures in the original portion of the detention center, including plumbing fixtures and finishes. The work also includes mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work, as well as new windows, doors, and walls in the area formerly housing the medical unit. Fire work will remain and be adjusted to the new ceiling layout as necessary. The contractor will perform all work. Challenges expected on this project include the following: A. Phasing of work into approximately 8+ phases B. Passing background investigation. C. Secured working locations. D. Expedited completion of each phase. E. Requirement to procure equipment ahead of time. F. Requirement to have full-time supervision of non-working Superintendents. G. Coordination of subcontractors in secured space. The contractor should be able to demonstrate a past history of completing similar projects within schedule and budget. A draft project manual and set of drawings are available on the Procurement & Contracting website. It is recommended that Contractors seeking prequalification review the documents in order to acquaint themselves with the scope of work prior to submitting an application. Bonds required.
