City of Anaheim (City) desires the services of a qualified Backflow Prevention Device Tester and General Engineering (A) or C-36 Plumbing Contractor to provide as-needed inspections, repairs and replacements at various locations throughout the City. There are an estimated (702) backflow devices throughout the City. These amounts are subject to change as new construction or renovations occur throughout the City. The intent of these Specifications is to describe the repairs and maintenance requirements in general terms. The detailed specifications will be based on the particular requirements at the time that a given job is required. City will consider value-engineering suggestions from Contractor and may accept alternates recommended if they provide equal or better functionality, durability, and cost effectiveness; however, City, in its sole discretion, may require specific manufacturers and model numbers for any given job. Services are typically for as-needed repairs, maintenance, and minor projects under $5,000.00. In the case that backflow or water meter is turned off. Tester must turn on for testing purposes and turn back off upon completion. Testing report to indicate that the backflow or water meter was off. Test the devices according to all applicable Orange County Environmental Health department requirements, legal requirements, and industry standard requirements such as set forth by the American Water Works Association (AWWA). Repair and or replace any devices when requested and authorized by City Representative. Maintain gauges in good repair and have them calibrated/repaired when necessary. Note that Orange County Environmental Health may require repair or calibration of a gauge when necessary.
