The Contractor is solely responsible for installing and maintaining erosion, sedimentation and pollution controls for the project. No payment will be made for any portion of the project for which temporary erosion, sedimentation and pollution controls are not properly installed and maintained. Any fines or delays for non-compliance of erosion control measures levied by any agency shall be the responsibility of the Contractor. The main objective of our limited hand auger boring study was to evaluate the general subsurface conditions within the depth explored in the hand auger borings and determine if difficult excavation or dense material would be anticipated during grading activities. The authorized services included a hand auger and Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) testing program, evaluation of the field data, and the preparation of this report. Our subsurface exploration consisted of a total of three (3) hand auger borings within the general locations chosen by you and indicated on the plan. The borings extended to depths ranging from 3 to 4 feet below the existing ground surface. The approximate boring locations are depicted on the attached Hand Auger Boring Location Plan. At regular intervals in the hand auger borings, the soil consistency was measured with a portable Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP). After first seating the conical point, the point was driven an additional 1¾ inches with blows of a manually-operated 15- pound hammer falling freely over a 20-inch drop. The number of blows required to achieve this penetration was recorded and is an empirical assessment of the soil’s load bearing capacity and density. A five percent (5%) bid bond, a one hundred percent (100%) performance bond, and a one hundred percent (100%) payment bond shall be furnished to Cobb County for any proposal as required in proposal documents. This project encouraged MBE/WBE participation.
