The existing steel plate will be removed, and the existing asphalt overlay will need to be excavated to expose the deck underneath. The existing deck concrete will be removed as detailed, and horizontal dowels will be drilled, grouted and tied into the longitudinal bars. A form will be placed on the underside of the slab and high early strength concrete will be poured. After the concrete is cured and achieves the required strength, the form will be removed, and a new asphalt overlay will be installed in the area of the repaired slab. Method and materials shall meet the enclosed specifications and attached details. The work area shall be repaired or restored to a condition equal to or better than that existing at the start of the work, with materials equal to or better than the original ones.
