Install/Modify Traffic Signals & ADA Compliant Pedestrian Facilities in Towns of Chenango & Thompson. Cast iron detectable warning units shall be installed in wet concrete as directed by the manufacturer. Follow all applicable manufacturer’s requirements for environmental conditions, surface preparation, installation procedures, curing procedures, and materials compatibility. The contractor shall cut existing asphalt pavement, concrete pavement, asphalt surface course, or asphalt concrete overlay on concrete pavement at the locations indicated and detailed on the plans and as directed by the Engineer. Existing pavement and overlay shall be cut perpendicular to the roadway surface along neat lines, and to the depth indicated on the plans and typical sections, using appropriate equipment. After the pavement has been cut through, the Contractor may use pry bars, pneumatic tools or other methods, to pry loose the pavement to be removed from the pavement that is to remain. A pavement breaker may be used to break up the pavement to be removed after the pavement has been completely cut through and completely free from the pavement to remain. This project encouraged MBE/WBE participation.
