East Columbus High School 32 Gator Lane Lake Waccamaw
The purpose of this project is to support the upgrade of U.S. 74 to a full control of access facility. A full control of access facility does not allow private driveway connections and requires all connections to the facility to be via ramps at interchanges. The conversion of the U.S. 74/Old Lake Road intersection to a grade separation will also improve safety for nearby high school traffic by restricting direct access to and from U.S. 74. The construction of a roundabout at the N.C. 214 intersection with Chauncey Town Road will help facilitate the flow of additional traffic that will be diverted through Lake Waccamaw due to the proposed changes in U.S. 74 access.
