Southwestern State Hospital, located in Thomasville, Georgia is a State facility comprised of 23 buildings that equate to 367,424 square feet of medical and administrative space with 153 acres of Green-space and hard scape. A one-acre lake exists on the property. Grounds maintenance of the State property, right of ways parallel to Pinetree Boulevard and FEMA access road located on the east of the campus up to the Security is included in this solicitation. A non-selective herbicide shall be applied to fence lines, ornamental beds, and hard-scapes requiring weed control. A pre-emergent may then be used to control unwanted vegetation in ornamental beds. MSDS for all chemicals shall be submitted to DBHDD representative in accordance with departmental policy. Trees should have lower branches properly pruned or removed to promote pedestrian safety. Ornamentals will be shaped according to standard horticultural practice for species. Maintain clean edges on sidewalks and curbing in public areas. Chemical means may be used in field applications. The use of mulching blades is encouraged to reduce vegetative build-up of grass and leaves on turf. Severe landscape damages resulting from natural occurrences (severe storms, wind, etc.) resulting in downed trees and broken limbs shall be addressed to the appropriate DBHDD representative for authorization to proceed as this will be an additional service, and invoiced separately, as an Open Market Purchase.
