In the existing CMPD HQ building, the lobby will be modified to create a more secure and comfortable environment for both the police and the public. The project will be phased. The Project involves minor demolition of existing main building lobby storefront and doors, some ceiling/soffit finishes, some limited flooring and lighting. Includes installing new ballistic resistant door/window systems, enlarging the rear (public) vestibule area to accommodate new X-ray and magnetometer equipment as well as a new egress path configuration. Also included is light gauge wall framing and gypsum wall board, wall and ceiling mud and finishing, paint, limited new floor finishes, new hard and acoustical ceiling. Carpentry, finish carpentry and millwork will be required in the form of a new media desk as well as modifications to the existing curved wood and laminate reception/control desk. Project enhances the HVAC capacity and delivery to the vestibules. This will include modifying the existing controls for the HVAC serving some of this area. Electrical work includes some new lighting, new electrical power for security equipment and general use. Security desk electrical will be divided between the UPS system currently in the building and outlets will be relocated. Security desk renovation will involve close coordination with CMPD operations. Electronic door controls, fire alarm, data, etc. will also be included in this project. The Contractor will be expected to coordinate and work with the City’s IT vendor as well as internal specialists. This project encouraged MBE/WBE participation.
