This work shall consist of saw cutting existing concrete or granite curb as detailed in the contract documents or as directed by the Engineer. Saws shall be capable of making smooth, full-thickness cuts as shown in the contract documents. All saw marks and sharp edges shall be ground smooth. Existing pavement and overlay shall be cut perpendicular to the roadway surface along neat lines, and to the depth indicated on the plans and typical sections, using appropriate equipment. After the pavement has been cut through, the Contractor may use pry bars, pneumatic tools or other methods, to pry loose the pavement to be removed from the pavement that is to remain. A pavement breaker may be used to break up the pavement to be removed after the pavement has been completely cut through and completely free from the pavement to remain. This project encouraged MBE/WBE participation.
