The Engineering Department is currently requesting professional services to perform design and field engineering services for Repair, Restoration, and Improvement of Wrightsboro Road (between Highland Avenue and Mark Church Road). It is five lanes (two lanes each direction and center two-way left-turn lane) section and pavement condition is poor. It appears that road subbase may be failing. This project would benefit the public by improving roadway safety by resurfacing and reconstructing, and improving the existing curb and gutter, replacing sidewalks (as needed), and improving road drainage and lighting. The project will improve pedestrian safety at intersections with new high visibility crosswalks. Bicycle safety will be improved by providing Bicycle lane or pavement markings for share bicycle use within the corridor. New street trees will be provided, where possible, to enhance pedestrian use and improvement roadway aesthetics. This project would improve economic development in this roadway corridor. The total project length is approximately 2.7 miles. Project is primarily funded by local funding sources.
