Brunswick County is requesting proposals for a modified cargo container to be used as a mobile hurricane shelter. During the time of any significant storm, there is a need to have staff stationed at various locations throughout the County. The intent of the modified cargo container is to use as office/lab space and be able to house at least two (2) employees safely during a storm. The County has a goal to have this shelter in place and operational in the month of May 2020. The contractor is to modify the storage container to the specifications below. The container is to be delivered and installed at our 211 WTP located at 4305 Southport-Supply Road SE, Southport, NC 28461 (see attached map). Contractor is to supply six (6) 8”x8” timbers for the container to be set on. The shelter is to be properly hooked up to electric, water, and septic. Any permits and fees associated with these connections will be the responsibility of the bidder and should be included in this proposal. There are existing utilities on site. The area in which the shelter is to be placed has sufficient room to access and unload.
