Idols Pump Station, 5485 Dock Davis Road in Clemmons, NC

Provide new complete Thomas Flex Type 850 SV Vertical Floating Shaft Coupling Provide labor, equipment, rigging and miscellaneous consumables to complete the following: Provide and set up safety equipment, tie-offs, and rigging as required. Unwire motor to facilitate removal. Unbolt motor coupling hub from drive shaft center section. Provide temporary cribbing to set motor on to facilitate coupling hub removal. Remove coupling hub from motor shaft. a. Insulating / heat sink provisions shall be in place to protect motor while heat is applied to coupling hub to prevent heat from traveling the motor shaft and damaging internal components. Unbolt and remove drive shaft section and shim packs. a. All existing coupling hubs,shim packs, bolts, and washers shall be salvaged turned over to the City ofW/S. Remove water flush lines, drain lines, air release valves and piping, and any instrumentation from pump rotating assembly in a manner as to be reused.Remove rotating assembly from volute. a. Crate for shipment to repair facility for disassembly, inspection and repair quotation. Clean and inspect volute wear ring. a. Measure and document wear ring clearance by measuring spare rotating assembly impeller wear ring. b. If wear ring clearance is in excess of manufacturer’s tolerance, contractor shall provide a separate quotation to remove existing volute wear ring and replace with new wear ring. Install spare rotating assembly into pump volute. a. Install rotating assembly in pump casing. i. Provide new volute o-ring. b. Check radial clearance between top cover wearing ring and impeller upper wearing ring. c. Remove packing, lantern ring, and packing gland to facilitate installation of split mechanical seal. d. Check concentricity of shaft sleeve with stuffing box bore and verify it is within manufacturer’s tolerance. e. Center rotating assembly concentric with volute wear ring. f. Secure with bolts and tapered alignment pins. g. Heat and install new pump coupling half on pump shaft. h. Install new split seal. i. Connect water flush and drain lines per mechanical seal manufacturer’s guidelines. j. Reconnect all flush water and drain piping, air release valve and piping, and instrumentation. Install motor with new coupling hub back on motor stand. Install remainder of Thomas FlexCoupling. a. Install new center section, shim packs, bolts, and washers. Laser align motor to pump. a. Provide final alignment report. Wire motor. Bleed all air from pump and startup. Measure vibration, amp draw, and pump performance. Provide startup report. Transport removed rotating assembly back to repair facility. Disassemble and provide separate report and repair proposal. Provide non-prorated 2 year warranty on all provided materials and workmanship. Scope of Work / Replacement of 30" Ball Valve on #1 Pump at Idols Pump Station. Neilson Maintenance staff will isolate and drain the valve, pump and piping. City will provide the new 30" ball valve to be installed. Contractor shall monitor the river level while 30” ball valve is removed from the pump discharge line. If the river level starts to rise, a blind flange, furnished by the City shall be installed on the pump flange by the Contractor. If the river gets out of the banks it will flood the pump station if the blind flange is not installed. Contractor will provide new gaskets for the 30" ball valve. Contractor will remove hydraulic valve actuator and controls from old valve. This project encouraged MBE/WBE participation.
