This project provides for the elimination of the existing Paramount Pump Station through the installation of approximately 4,000 linear feet of new 12-inch PVC and ductile iron gravity sanitary sewer mains. The pump station is located at 5180 Paramount Parkway in Morrisville and the proposed gravity sewer mains will be installed along Paramount Parkway and Marcom Drive. Abandoning the existing pump station, which has been in service since the early 2000’s, will avoid the need for future pump station and force main maintenance and upgrades. The proposed gravity sewer will also help alleviate projected wastewater capacity issues in the Perimeter Park sewer basin. As part of the new gravity sewer installation, microtunneling will be utilized to install a portion of the sewer that will run beneath the banks of an existing Wake County waterway just north of Marcom Drive. Controlled blasting and rock/boulder excavation is anticipated in this area, and the awarded contractor is required to perform pre-blast and post-blast surveys and testing of all existing structures, including private water supply wells, for all properties located along Marcom Drive to ensure no damage is caused to these properties as a result of the sewer main installation.
