RFQ - Water Transmission Main Improvements and Repairs Project, Charlotte NC

The project studies to date include analysis of the existing 24-inch PCCP WTM from Franklin WTP to Verhoff Dr. in Huntersville that identified immediate repair needs. In addition, the recently completed Water Distribution System Master Plan identified improvements to the water transmission system over the life of the master plan recommendations time frame. To optimize the function and resiliency of the existing transmission system, improvements and repairs are needed. Charlotte Water has thoroughly defined the project requirements in the below scope. a. Repair of the 24” PCCP Potable Water main (1974), from Franklin WTP to Verhoff Dr. in Huntersville, at places identified in the PURE Technology Condition Assessment Report. b. Make modifications to the existing Old Steele Creek Road Valve Vault Improvements such as adding valves, safety measures (handrail, ladder, gate, etc.), sidewalks and driveways, as outlined in the West Water Main Air Release and Vacuum Valve Vault Improvements. c. Condition Assessment and Investigation of the 24” PCCP potable water main (1970), from McDowell to 5th Street and crossing under Interstate 277 towards Duke Energy substation on Morrow St and Elizabeth Ave. d. Connect the 30” DIP Potable Water main (1998) to the 16” CIP Potable Water main (1982) at the intersection of Carmel and Pineville Matthews Rd. e. Connect the 16” DIP Potable Water main (1994) and the 24” DIP Potable Water main (1994) at the intersection of Mallard Creek Rd., Mallard Creek Church and Prosperity Church Rd. f. Evaluation of the 54” PCCP Raw Water main (1965), approximately 1 mile north of the Franklin WTP Reservoir along Plank Rd. which was damaged by a rock ripper. g. Replacement of the 16” CIP Potable Water main (1944), from Brookshire Blvd. to Biddleville Neighborhood Park. h. Evaluation and potential replacement of parallel 20” CIP Potable Water mains (1966) from Interstate 77 along Cates St. to the Cedar/5th St. intersection. i. Condition Assessment and Investigation 8” CIP Potable Water main (1935) on Cates St. j. Removal of 24” PVC (1976) and replace with 12” along Beatties Ford Rd. north from French Rd. to Brookshire Blvd. bridge deck. k. Connect the 20” CIP Potable Water main (1942) along Greenleaf Ave. and Cedar St. into the 20” CIP Potable Water main (1942) on Graham St. and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. This project encouraged MBE/WBE participation.
