Primary interface between the selected firm and the City will be through the Department of Public Works (DPW). The Commissioner and his staff will be responsible for coordination of work. The selected firm shall provide the following services: Each street that is scheduled for milling will be prepared for resurfacing by the Contractor to include removal of the millings, re-setting street iron, establishing temporary transitions to the lower roadway on the street and at each driveway, and maintaining these transitions during construction. DPW will inspect the prep work, drainage, and authorize continuing with the repaving portion. DPW will determine the need for new street iron. The Contractor will raise or lower the street iron as necessary to ensure proper drainage and a smooth ride over metal surfaces. After the inspection, DPW will authorize continuing with the repaving portion. The costs to repair pavement damage resulting from unauthorized travel by tracked equipment on paved surfaces shall be borne entirely by the firm furnishing the machinery or equipment.
