The Contractor will be required to perform prep work, removal, installation and cleanup for Pavement Preservation and Maintenance Services defined in this ITB. The majority of the work will occur on the Interstate and State Route system. The Contractor shall supply labor, equipment, tools, means of transportation, traffic control, and incidentals to perform work in accordance to specifications, and to ensure a safe work environment for employees and the traveling public within the time schedule specified. This project consists of Single Surface Treatment (#89), Micro-surfacing, and Striping on State Route 117 from MP 0.00 to MP 11.70 in Laurens County. Project also consist of sections of Micro-surfacing overlays at various locations on SR 15 & SR 77 in Greene County and on SR 88 in Jefferson County. For this project, the advance warning signs specified in Subsection 150.3.04 shall be portable signs. These signs shall be placed only during times that construction is in progress or as conditions warrant as directed by the Engineer. Signs shall be removed at all other times. Costs for all Traffic Control shall be included in the overall bid price. All required testing shall be done by the Contractor and/or Subcontractor. On-site testing of emulsion shall be done weekly and/or as directed by the Engineer. This testing shall be performed by an independent laboratory. Test samples shall be obtained from the distributor tank, nurse tank, holding tank, and/or delivery tank as directed by the Engineer. Samples may be required from all on site tanks. Final payment will not be made until all tests results have been provided to the Department. The costs of all testing shall be included in the overall bid price. Replace any existing rumble strips after Micro-Surfacing operations as per Construction Detail T-19. Removing and replacing rumble strips shall also follow Special Provision Section 150.2.13. All costs associated with the removal and replacement of rumble strips shall be included in the overall bid price. Any Loop Detectors that are damaged due to pavement preservation operations shall be replaced as per GDOT detail at locations designated by the Engineer, utilizing materials that are listed on the GDOT Qualified Products List (QPL). Testing of the loops shall be required. All necessary documentation regarding the loop detectors shall accompany the invoice before payment will be made. All costs associated with this work shall be included in the overall bid price. Prior to placement of Surface Treatment, existing shoulders shall be bladed no lower in elevation than the existing pavement or shoulder. All costs associated with this work shall be included in the overall bid price. All existing RPM’s shall be removed prior to Surface Treatment operations. All costs associated with this work shall be included in the overall bid price. The existing 5” centerline and edgeline pavement markings shall be replaced as 5” paint pavement markings for the full length of pavement preservation operations. Temporary centerline and edgelines shall be replaced according to Special Provision Section 150. Final centerline and edgelines shall be according to the Standard Specification Section 652. RPM’s (Including any Type 10’s) shall be replaced for the full length of pavement preservation operations. RPM’s shall be placed according to Construction Detail T-15A. Thermoplastic pavement markings damaged by pavement preservation operations shall be replaced in kind. Thermoplastic shall be replaced according to Standard Specification Section 653. Thermo includes stopbars, arrows/words, crosswalks, hatching, R/R symbols, etc. The contractor is responsible for visiting project site to determine the amount/type of pavement markings needed. All costs for pavement markings will be paid for by centerline mile and RPM’s (all types) shall be paid for by each. SR 15 Greene – SR 77 Greene – SR 88 Jefferson Only – Replace in kind only the striping and RPM’s damaged from micro-surfacing overlays operations. All costs associated with this work shall be included in the overall bid price. Contractor must submit a bid bond or proposal guaranty for each bid submitted to the Department. Bid bonds or proposal guarantees not received by the Department before the due/close date and time will not be accepted and bid rejected.
