This project constructs seismic retrofits to address seismic deficiencies of the West Howe Street Bridge structure. Retrofit measures include clearing and grubbing, steel column strengthening, steel bracing strengthening, column base strengthening, gusset plate, replacing existing rocker bearing with elastomeric bearings, seat extension and catcher block at west and east abutment and stop block at each side of the stringer at east abutment. This project also includes bridge painting of the existing and the new steel members. The painting of existing bridge includes cleaning, removing rust, spot priming and painting exposed steel members of the existing bridge. Owner anticipates some of the existing paint is lead based. The traffic control detour covers Magnolia Blvd W from the N at W McGraw Street to the S at the shoreline, from the E at Clise Place W and to the W at Montavista Pl. W.
