Provide comprehensive engineering services for the required improvements at the Hardeeville Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) located at 2529 Church Rd, Hardeeville, SC 29927. In general, the Scope of Services includes design of the following improvements to the Hardeeville WRF: • Site/Civil: Additional fill dirt is anticipated to raise the footprint of the new equalization, oxidation ditches, and contact basin by approximately 5’ to match the grade of the existing plant. It is also important to note that recent changes to flood elevations and potential impacts to the existing site are currently being evaluated but these changes should not be considered as a part of developing a proposed fee for this project. • Yard Piping: Yard piping improvements are anticipated to pass peak flows up to 12 MGD through the plant. New or modified flow splitting structures will be required for secondary treatment. • Screening: Screening capacity expansion will be required through the installation of higher capacity screens with a target peak flow of 24 MGD. It is not anticipated that the footprint of the screening facility will need to be changed as a part of this project. • Grit Removal: Grit headcell modifications are anticipated to target a peak flow of 24 MGD, including grit pumps, cyclone, and classifier. • Flow Measurement: Additional flow measurement capacity will be required, as the existing influent Parshall flume cannot measure beyond 16 MGD. • Equalization: Two new mixed 1.7 MG equalization tanks will be required. • Biological Treatment: Two new oxidation ditches (matching existing technology and sizing) will be required. • Clarification: Two new secondary clarifiers (matching existing technology and sizing) will be required. • Disinfection: Chlorine contact basin expansion by approximately 40,000 gallons will be required. • Effluent Pumping: Pump station and effluent piping improvements will be required. It is anticipated that a parallel 24-inch effluent forcemain of length 4,883 ft will be required from the WRF to the effluent junction manhole on the bank of the Savannah River and that additional or larger pumps will be required. No changes are anticipated for the effluent diffuser at this time. • NPW System: A new hydropneumatic tank will be required to reduce stress and strain on the existing NPW pumps. • Biosolids: A second sludge holding tank and new two-story dewatering building will be required (approximately 5,200 sf footprint) with truck load out. It is anticipated that two belt filter presses will be used for dewatering. Bonds required. Prevailing wages.
