Provide 24” diameter, 14-gauge CMP as specified in Section 601, Conduits, General. Gradation acceptance will be by manufacturer’s certification and compaction acceptance will be by visual inspection meeting the requirements described below. Pipe material, gauge, and corrugation depth must be verified (assumed to be similar to what’s located at the inlet located along the north side of the EB north line on I-90) prior to ordering. Excavate and expose the circumference of the CMP at the locations of pipe damage indicated on the plans at the trench width indicated on standard drawing 601-1. Perform all trenching per OSHA requirements. Prior to construction, submit a temporary shoring plan meeting the requirements of Section 584, Temporary Shoring, for Department approval. Cut and remove damaged section of CMP, remove soil and debris from inside existing CMP to remain in place, install new sections of CMP and coupling bands, place and compact aggregate base pipe bedding and onsite backfill materials to match adjacent grades. Dispose of damaged pipe at a contractor furnished waste site meeting the requirements of Section 107.17.C, Contractor Support Areas. Place pipe in accordance with Section 601.03, Construction Requirements. Carefully hand tamp 3 /4” Aggregate Type A Base under the lower ¼ of the overall pipe diameter in lieu of coarse aggregate for concrete as specified in Standard Drawing 601- 1. Then place 3 /4” Aggregate Type A Base in 8” lifts and carefully hand tamp for the remainder of the pipe bedding zone as identified in Standard Drawing 601-1. Place onsite backfill materials above the pipe-bedding zone in 8” lifts and compact each lift with a minimum of five complete passes of a vibratory plate compactor with the backfill materials in a visibly moist condition. Use a vibratory plate compactor with a minimum centrifugal force of 300 lbs. per inch of plate width. Seed, mulch, and fertilize in accordance with Section 621. For all advertised projects, if using a surety bond (bid bond), it must be for the sum of 5% of the amount bid and must be submitted at the time of bid on the forms provided by the Department.
