Transmission mains: Installation of about 1,026 lineal feet (LF) of restrained 24-inch ductile iron
pipe; 825 LF of restrained and non-restrained 24-inch C905 pipe; 3,466 LF of restrained / nonrestrained
18-inch C905 pipe; 1,772 LF of restrained / non-restrained 12-inch C900 pipe; 150 LF of restrained 6-inch C900 pipe; and various fittings, valves, and appurtenances with connections to
existing water system piping. This work is to upsize and replace an existing 8-inch cast iron water
main currently serving the airport area.
New airport reservoir: Construction of a new 2.0 million gallon (MG) welded steel reservoir,
including site preparation, controlled blasting and rock excavation, general excavation, foundation,
interior piping, access driveway and road, stormwater facilities, and final site grading and surface
restoration. Construction includes about 366 LF of 24-inch, 495 LF of 18-inch, 59 LF of 8-inch and
114 LF of 6-inch diameter ductile iron pipe, including various fittings, valves, and appurtenances.
This work is to provide new storage to the City’s gravity water pressure zone and to serve as
storage for the airport pressure zone.
New airport booster station located on reservoir site: Construction of a 4,500 gallon per minute
booster pump station, including a concrete masonry unit (CMU) building; mechanical piping, valves,
fittings, and equipment; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems; electrical and
control systems; and generator for redundant operation power. This work is to provide for industrial
growth opportunities underway at the airport industrial parks.
Fencing: Construction of perimeter fencing and gates for the reservoir and booster station site,
along with property fencing and gates for control of access to the overall property.
Roadway and site access upgrades: Construction of improvements to Old Airport Road including
about 2,500 cubic yards (CY) of general excavation, about 1,440 CY of embankment in place,
1,300 CY of compacted roadway aggregate base; 35 tons of hot mix asphalt concrete (HMAC)
roadway resurfacing; and 2,100 LF of cobble-lined roadside drainage ditch.
Construction includes on-site and off-site disposal of rock material, including demolition and
removal of existing water system structures. These structures include two existing booster pump
stations, two 0.5 MG steel reservoirs, and are to be demolished after the new water system facilities
are in operation. Existing 8-inch cast iron pipe is to be abandoned in-place.
