Ballfield Infield Renovations Project, Durham NC

Durham County

Bid Date: 06/03/2020 at 02:00pm

Pre-Bid: 05/19/2020
Piney Wood Ballfield.

The Department of Parks & Recreation currently has a softball field at Piney Wood Park that is used constantly by higher-level league play. Despite diligent maintenance by DPR staff, this field has eroded and degraded over the years. The infield has a poor soil mix, areas of ponding during rain events and somewhat dangerous transition zones from the infield clay to the outfield grass, where tripping hazards can occur. Also, the three previously renovated fields at Valley Springs and Southern Boundaries need additional soil mix and touch-up laser grading. In addition, a new fabric barrier will be added at all four ballfields next to the fence to slow the loss of soil material from the infield. For this project, a Certified Field Builder contractor is needed to determine the soil mix suitable for a high-quality infield, the appropriate infield high point, and the best infield slope to promote drainage and a better infield/outfield transition zone. The contractor should have an American Sports Builder/Field Builder Certification and extensive project experience in renovation of ballfield infields. The responsible department will be the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR). This project encouraged MBE/WBE participation.
