The home is located in the AE Flood Zone at 66 Moon River Drive, Savannah, Georgia. The neighborhood is Burnside Island. The property was flooded on September 11, 2017 dwing Hurricane Irma and sustained substantial damage. There was approximately 18 to 24 inches of water inside the living space of the house and approximately three feet of water inside the attached garage. The 1,688 square foot home is a single-family residence, one story, slab-on-grade foundation with a brick veneer frame and masonry load bearing exterior walls and slab porch with roof. To elevate the first floor living space, the homeowner applied for and received a Hazard Mitigation Grant through FEMA. This grant is provided, with stipulations, to elevate the first floor of living space to comply with the Chatham County Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance (FDPO) requirements for home elevations in the Special Flood Hazard Areas (SFHA: A,AE & VE) flood zones. This will allow the building to be in compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations. Such bidder shall post a bid bond, certified check or money order made payable to the Chatham County Finance Department in the amount of 5"/o of the bid price. This project encouraged MBE/WBE participation.
