This project consists of the construction building improvements at the H. Spurgeon Cherry Aquatics Center, including reconstruction of the pool’s parking lot. The H. Spurgeon Cherry Aquatics Center building was constructed in 1968. Many of the features within the aquatics center are from the original construction. The building renovation includes: New roofing system for the +/- 4,100 s.f. building, replacement of the showers and restroom fixtures, replacement of the lockers, benches and other furnishings, replacement of the interior finishes and light fixtures, replacement of the mechanical (HVAC) systems, general improvements to office, storage and staff spaces and new entry modifications with entry canopy to provide a vibrant, welcoming image.  The parking lot work involves resurfacing and restriping the existing parking lot at H. Spurgeon Cherry Pool which has become in disrepair over many years of neglect. Additional base improvements include adding sidewalks, relocating bike racks, curb repair, adding driveway aprons for maintenance access, increasing lighting, relocating the dumpster enclosure, improving the entry area on the east side of the building, and adding a stormwater pond. Enhanced improvements include widening the bottleneck near the building entrance and adding extra parking along the widened section.
