The contractor shall perform mowing operations consisting of mowing grass, to a height of 2 ½ inches on and along areas designated as bi-weekly mowing and shall include trimming around permanent structures and fences as well as picking up and removal of brush, branches, litter and any other debris. The clippings shall remain on the ground unless directed otherwise by the Public Works Director or his designee. The initial visit of the season will include the removal of all leaves and debris. Trees and shrubs in the following areas are to be mulched within the first thirty days of the season and mulched as directed throughout the season. If there is no mulch ring established, then the contractor is to cut a three-foot mulch ring around the tree to enable installation of mulch. Mulch is to be "Beautiful Brown" and to be approved by the Public Works Director prior to installation. Oakwood Cemetery shall be mulched around the Cemetery sign area only. Mulching shall be installed at a depth of 3-4 inches. Mulching shall be incidental to the contract. Mowing operations shall take place on a bi-weekly basis unless otherwise instructed by the Public Works Director. The contractor shall begin mowing operations no earlier than 7:00 a.m. and no later than 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and on Saturdays only with the permission of the Public Works Director. The contractor shall submit a bid bond or a certified check in the amount of 10% of the total bid amount. This must be submitted with the proposal. This project encouraged MBE/WBE participation.
