Suggested repair procedure includes; close the bridge to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Remove head of rivets on side of existing member for the rivets that will be in contact with the new repair plate. Contractor is responsible for stability of structure during the removal of the rivets. Clean the contact surface of the existing member and the new repair plate. Bolt the new repair plate to the existing member by drilling out the remainder of the existing rivets. Remove and replace each rivet with new bolt, one rivet at a time. Drill holes through existing channel web, add back-up plate where shown, and connect the three members together. Bonds. Prevailing wages. Chicago, IL.
