Estimate: $ 3.1 million

The Gumbo Limbo Nature Center and Florida Atlantic University (FAU) use an existing pump station to supply seawater to the onsite tanks and marine life facility. The existing system consists of three 6-inch HDPE suction lines extending the east side of A1A seaward to approximately 200 feet offshore of the shoreline. Each of the existing intakes lines has slotted intake manifolds. On the western side of A1A, three 8-inch HDPE suction lines extend from A1A to the pump station abutting the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center. The seawater suction lines between the pumps and the offshore intakes are approximately 960 lineal feet. The existing pump station includes a vacuum priming system, two 30-hp pumps, and manifold discharge piping to distribute raw seawater to the onsite tanks and facilities. The City is seeking a long-term solution for the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center marine life facilities to provide the required flow rate to adequately supply a sufficient amount of seawater to meet the demands for the current tank capacity as well as anticipated future expansions to the facility. The project consists of furnishing all labor, materials, equipment and all incidentals and appurtenances for the installation of two (2) 18” HDPE seawater intake pipes via horizontal directional drill (HDD), two (2) stainless steel intake screens with concrete collars, installation of a factory-built pump station at Red Reef Park, installation of discharge piping with flow meters to existing pipes, installation of generator with HVHZ rated enclosure, and removal of existing pumps and connection of pipe end with SCH80 PVC pipe at the existing pump station area. Base Bid A is without the installation of a generator/enclosure and Base Bid B includes installation of a generator/enclosure.
