The Town of Oyster Bay intends to replace the existing outfall pipe and connecting structure at the southerly end of Division Avenue in Massapequa, which are currently submerged and filled entirely with sand/debris. The remaining existing drainage system will be replaced with larger, higher capacity structures and pipe and modified to provide adequate stormwater flow to the outfall. Additional improvements include installing an inline check valve and stormwater pretreatment system at the outfall. These improvements will address stormwater drainage issues primarily caused by the existing drainage system, and tidal backflow that has occurred during past storms and extreme tidal events. Bonds required. Prevailing wages apply. This project encouraged MBE/WBE participation.
