The South Kitsap High School pool building, and pool will be renovated, including partial replacement of the pool floor. The pool will be drained to accomplish the floor renovation work. There is uncertainty in groundwater levels beneath the pool; if they are elevated above the base of the pool floor, this could result in upward pressure and possibly damage to the pool once it is drained (existing integrity of the pool floor was not evaluated by Aspect). Although original pool design reports recommend installation of a gravel underdrain as a passive dewatering system beneath the pool, construction records were unavailable. It is therefore possible that this underdrain may not have been constructed or could be underperforming.
