The City of Clermont has recently completed the modification of its existing consumptive use permit (CUP) #2478 to increase the permitted groundwater allocation. As part of the modification, the City is converting the source of groundwater supply from the Upper to the Lower Floridian Aquifer (LFA). The City recently constructed two (2) new LFA production wells near the Sunburst Lane Water Treatment Plant (WTP) to meet future demands and to reduce reliance on existing UFA wells at the Sunburst Lane WTP. The City is requesting design services for the outfitting of the two new LFA production wells and the addition of a second 2.0 million-gallon ground storage tank. The new LFA wells will be outfitted with vertical turbine well pumps on soft starts and enclosed in well houses. The design will include raw water piping to connect the discharge from the new well pumps to the existing raw water main. The addition of the wells and ground water storage tank will provide additional redundancy and operational flexibility without increasing the capacity of the WTP.
