Brooksville-Tampa Bay Regional Airport in Brooksville (BKV), owned and operated by the Hernando County Board of County Commissioners, intends to rehabilitate the existing Runway 9-27 and Taxiway Connector “C9” on the south end of Runway 27. Runway 9-27 edge lighting and signage were recently upgraded; therefore, no electrical improvements are anticipated as part of this project. This project will, however, include the relocation of the wind cone at the Runway 27 end and the Runway 9 Localizer. Other elements that will be addressed include the stockpile mound, trees, and vegetations located within the Runway Object Free Area (ROFA) and the Primary Surface, removal of the service road crossing Runway 9-27, and re-grading the runway safety area to the west of Runway 9. Improvements to taxiway connectors were recently implemented under a separate project during the reconstruction of Taxiway “A”, and therefore there are no proposed geometric changes to the existing airfield. In 2011, the LPA Group (a predecessor of Michael Baker) prepared plans and specifications to construct the Northeast Corporate Center civil/site package. Those documents included the extension of Taxiway A”, landside access roadways, a new aircraft parking apron, utility improvements, drainage improvements, and associated work. The purpose of the project was to provide a “pad-ready” site for future hangars and/or aviation related buildings with direct airfield access. This project involves the repackaging of the 2011 plans and only construct the Taxiway “A” Extension portion of the project.
