For the improvement of certain section of highways and bridges In Luzerne County, Lehman Township, State Route 1048, Section 370. The project proposes to replace the existing deficient culvert carrying Harveys Creek over SR 1048 (Meeker Road) in Lehman Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. The project proposes to replace the culvert with a precast reinforced concrete arch culvert on the same horizontal alignment with minimal approach roadway work. The existing structure consists of (4) single span 64” diameter corrugated steel pipes. The proposed plan for the replacement includes the removal of the existing steel pipe and relocation of existing utilities as required. The new culvert is proposed to be constructed to the minimum widths required for the SR 1048 roadway design criteria. The proposed replacement structure is a 32’ span x 9’ high Con/Span precast concrete arch culvert. The streambed invert of the culvert provides a 7’ high max clear opening at the arch’s apex. Within the project limits full-depth roadway reconstruction is proposed for the SR 1048 roadway limited to the area of construction and to tie into approach roadway and new guide rail within the project area. A detour will be in place during the culvert replacement. All work contained within an overall length of 335.0 linear feet (0.063 miles) as indicated on the approved drawings included in the bid package. DBE goal 3%. Prequalification required.
