The work under this Contract takes place at three intersections along Main St (Route 28) in Reading. Main St and Hopkins St intersection and the Main St and Summer Ave intersection consists of roadway improvements that includes: milling and overlaying existing pavement with new hot mix asphalt (HMA) pavement, reconstructing American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant cement concrete sidewalks and wheelchair ramps, installing new granite curb, drainage adjustments, installing new pavement marking and signing, installing a new traffic signal system, including mast arms and foundations, that are to operate in coordination by radio communication with the other intersection signal systems, and incidental work as shown on the drawings and as specified herein. Main St and South St intersection work includes: upgrading the traffic signal controller including installing a master to provide a coordinate system operating by radio communication, installing a new traffic signal controller in the existing cabinet, and controller cabinet modifications and associated equipment so as to operate a coordinated system installation of antennas for radio communication all as shown on the plans. The work in this Project shall be conducted such that where construction activities comes close to existing trees, the Contractor shall provide tree protection. Prequalification required.
