The City of Westminster currently owns and maintains roughly 11,700 liner feet of Bond Beam supported Brick Wall of varying heights at multiple locations in the City. As these walls have aged there is an increasing portion of the walls that have had the lower 1 to 3 feet of the walls begin to slump with some of the lower brick falling off entirely. In addition to the wall slump there are multiple locations were the walls have had backfill against the private(interior) side that has led to bulging and deformation of the wall. As part of our due diligence in going back and reinforcing the base of these walls with concrete footers we would like to have a structural engineer evaluate the current status of the walls and provide a recommendation on both the current stability of the walls and a recommended schedule to proceed with the reinforcement project to preserve the existing integrity of the walls. Example photos & a vicinity map of the project have been included as Exhibit C. The City has currently completed 2,470 feet of reinforcement and is looking to have an analysis of the remaining 9,230 feet of wall completed. The final deliverable should be in the form of a report including: • Findings • Any safety concerns • A breakdown of each section of wall and general condition scoring. • Photos • A project map • Any necessary calculations • A nonformal presentation summarizing the report findings to City Staff. Bonds required. Prevailing wages.
