236220 - Commercial and Institutional Building Construction. The Quarters 6 rehabilitation project is the construction of the historic Marine Barracks, Washington Quarters 6 at 8th and I Streets in Washington D.C. Quarters 6 is the residence of the Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps (15,984 GSF). The Quarters 6 rehabilitation project seeks to restore the historic fabric and renovate the building systems to improve ongoing functionality of the building. This includes structural and architectural repairs and preservation of historic materials to include general repainting, wood refinishing, and repair of damage caused by humidity and water infiltration. Roof replacement and repairs are also included along with replacement of exterior windows and doors. Replacement of the fire sprinkler system, fire alarm system, mechanical system, and electrical distribution system is also included. Telecom and IT systems will be upgraded as well. The sitework includes site preparation, site improvements, and storm drainage improvements. Temporary heating and cooling is provided during construction to control humidity and protect historic finishes. Bonds required. Prevailing wages.
