The purpose of the project is to perform an in-line condition assessment of the 18-inch Tara Hills force main. For the inspection equipment to travel through the force main, three plug valves must be removed and replaced with new gate valves or spools at various points on the Tara Hills force main. In addition, to perform the assessment, the installation of the Inspection Tool launch assembly and replacement of 20 feet of ductile iron pipe (DIP) will also be necessary. The equipment, permitting and associated tanks and pumping services are required to support these activities being performed by the primary consultant. There are four shutdowns planned to accomplish this work. The shutdowns will require temporary storage tanks, pumps, piping, and pumping operations at four locations (Tara Hills, Justice Center, Atlas, and Point Pinole) to successfully contain the wastewater in the Tara Hills Force Main system and complete the four shutdowns and project objectives. The Board of Directors selected the consultant PICA to perform the assessment. The firm selected by the district to provide “Equipment and associated tanks and pumping services” for this project will be required to work with PICA to support the assessment by providing the directed conditions necessary to launch and retrieve the Inspection Tool. Bonds required. Prevailing wages.
