This contract provides for the construction of a stormwater force main and gravity system, pump replacement and its electrical system upgrade, and the surface restoration from the construction disturbance. Project description: This project will reroute and upsize an existing stormwater force main around private residences between the Hermes Depression and 1st Avenue S. The existing force main currently discharges pumped stormwater from the Hermes Depression into the adjacent sub-basin via a gravity storm sewer in SW 130th Street, which flows into a ditch outside of the right-of-way and into private property. The purpose of this project is to reroute the pumped flow from the Hermes Depression to remain entirely within the right-of-way and avoid being discharged through private property. The project does not collect any surface runoff from SW 130th St, which will continue to flow through the existing gravity sewer and ditch. The extended force main will discharge into a new gravity storm sewer that will tie into the existing gravity storm sewer in 1st Avenue S. The portion of the work in 1st Avenue S is a temporary gravity storm system that will remain until planned roadway improvements in 1st Avenue S at this location are constructed. These roadway improvements are currently in the initial planning and design stages. Specific work to be completed under a single phase includes but is not limited to: replacement of existing stormwater pumps and the associated electrical system upgrade; and installation of 8-inch stormwater force main and 12-inch gravity stormwater pipe, traffic control, permanent trench patching and restoration. Estimated construction: three (3) months, to be completed in 2019.
