Restroom Sewer Pipe Replacement at Sandy Creek Park Project, Durham NC

Durham County

Bid Date: 03/09/2020 at 12:00pm

Pre-Bid: 02/19/2020
Sandy Creek Park, 3510 Sandy Creek Road, Durham, NC

The existing sewer pipe from the restrooms was recently partially crushed. During the subsequent investigation, DPR discovered that the routing of the sewer pipe from the restrooms at Sandy Creek Park was unnecessarily circuitous. DPR is seeking to remove the existing sewer PVC pipe and replace the pipe in a straighter, deeper line to the main sewer line, which will entail some cutting of in-ground rock. Contractor shall uncover and remove existing sewer pipe from the area near the sidewalk next to the restroom (where the pipe is currently exposed) to the main sewer line, approximately 140 feet. All demolished/ removed material shall be moved off-site to an appropriate facility. Contractor shall trench and lay new 4” PVC gravity drain pipe in a more direct, deeper line. The new pipe will appropriately tie into the pipe running from the restrooms and also into the main sewer line, while maintaining or exceeding minimum slope requirements. NOTE: Approximately 30 linear feet of the more direct route will require in-ground rock removal. Excavated rock shall be removed from the park and disposed appropriately. Please include 30 linear feet of rock excavation and removal in your bid.  A portion of the sewer pipe runs under the main road of the park. Contractor shall cut across the paved road and once the trench is filled, re-pave with 4 inches of asphalt, so that the main road is patched and smooth in the trenched area. Contractor shall grade and smooth all trenched/excavated areas or other disturbed areas caused by this project. All disturbed areas shall also be seeded and covered with straw. Contractor shall obtain all required permits and inspections for this work. This project encouraged MBE/WBE participation.
