The Contractor will be required to perform prep work, removal, installation and cleanup for Pavement Preservation and Maintenance Services defined in this ITB. The majority of the work will occur on the Interstate and State Route system. Work under this contract consists of 2 foot shoulder widening on various roads. This work includes excavating the material along the existing edge of pavement, at a minimum depth of four (4) inches and a width of two (2) feet and replacing with 402-3190 Recycled ASPH Concrete 19 mm Superpave, GP 1or 2 Including Bitum Material & H Lime. The project limits for this work is in Schley and Sumter Counties. Contractor shall furnish all other labor, materials, equipment, and means of transportation, traffic control and incidentals necessary to perform work. This contract shall be bid Line Item. The project limits of shoulder widening in Schley County is on SR 271 from mile post 0.00 to 5.2. The project limits of shoulder widening in Sumter County is on SR 271 from mile post 0.00 to 2.35. The Contractor shall be responsible for the removal and disposal of all debris. The cost of the disposal shall be included in overall bid price. The shoulder material removed for widening shall be windrowed onto the shoulder and bladed back to the edge of pavement and grassed when the widening is complete. Shoulder widening shall be performed to provide a smooth and well drained transition. All paved driveways shall be skipped and left as is. Unpaved driveways and side roads shall be paved to accommodate for two foot paved shoulder to provide a smooth transition for the driveway. All paved side roads shall be widened to the back of the radius on each side. Ensure all vertical faces of existing edge of pavements are cleaned and applied with bituminous tack before placing asphalt widening. Contractor shall apply soil sterilizing herbicide to the area next to the joint to prevent vegetation growing through the joint. All existing edge line traffic striping shall be restriped with 5” thermoplastic traffic stripe as per section 653 and should be included in the Lump Sum Bid. Traffic Striping shall be installed no later than 30 days after completion of each roadway. No Temporary striping will be needed for this project. The edge line shall be restriped at the same offset from the center line as the existing edge line stripping. Work times may be altered at the Engineers discretion due to traffic volume and school zones. Time limits will be on the locations sheet. Contractor must submit a bid bond or proposal guaranty for each bid submitted to the Department. Bid bonds or proposal guarantees not received by the Department before the due/close date and time will not be accepted and bid rejected.
