Work under this contract includes: One (1) secondary digester: Once all three primary digesters are cleaned and returned to service, Contractor shall remove the secondary digester from service. Contractor shall provide all temporary pipe, valves, and connections to allow the Owner to bypass the secondary digester and to transfer sludge directly to the Owner’s sludge presses. Contractor shall remove all sludge and contents from the secondary digester. Liquid sludge shall be transferred from the secondary digester to the Owner’s sludge presses using the Owner’s digested sludge pump station to the lowest level possible. Once as much sludge as possible has been transferred using the Owner’s pumps, the Contractor shall provide and install temporary pump(s) to transfer any and all liquid sludge remaining in the secondary digester to the Owner’s presses. Contractor shall remove all non-liquid sludge and non-sludge contents from the secondary digester. Removal of the contents of the digester includes all sludge, grit, waste, debris, trash, etc. including contents in the hopper area of the bottom of the digester. Liquid sludge shall be transferred to the Owner’s presses for processing, loading, and disposal by the Owner. Non-liquid sludge and non-sludge contents shall be removed from the digester by the Contractor. Contractor shall process, load, transport, and properly dispose of all non-liquid sludge and non-sludge contents at the Owner selected landfill. Owner shall pay landfill disposal fees directly to the Owner selected landfill. Contractor shall clean the interior of the digester. Contractor shall return secondary digester to service. Primary Digesters (3x) PD 1, PD 2, PD 3: Owner will transfer liquid sludge from each of the primary digesters (one unit at a time) to the Secondary Digester (SD 1). The Owner will process the transferred sludge from SD 1 through the Owner’s sludge presses lowering the level in SD 1. Owner will transport the pressed sludge to the landfill. The Contractor shall transfer the remaining sludge from each primary digester to the secondary digester (SD 1) based on the volume available in the secondary digester when transfer occurs. Owner will transfer the sludge from the secondary digester to the Owner’s sludge presses (2x) via the Owner’s existing digested sludge pump station. Owner’s maximum transfer rate from secondary digester is approximately 70 gpm. At maximum transfer rate, Owner can lower the secondary digester at a rate of approximately 1 vertical foot (28,772 gallons) in 6.85 hours. Owner will press sludge and load into transport vehicles at the Owner’s existing sludge press processing facility. Owner will transport pressed sludge to landfill under a separate contract. Owner shall pay landfill fees directly to landfill operator. Contractor shall remove contents from each primary digester. Removal of the contents of each primary digester includes all sludge, grit, waste, debris, trash, etc. including all contents in the hopper area of the bottom of the digester. Liquid sludge shall be transferred to the secondary digester for processing, loading, and disposal by the Owner. Non-liquid sludge and non-sludge contents shall be removed from each digester by the Contractor. Contractor shall process, load, transport, and properly dispose of all non-liquid sludge and non-sludge contents at Owner selected landfill. Owner shall pay landfill fees directly to the Owner selected landfill. Contractor shall clean the interior of each primary digester. Contractor shall return primary digester to service prior to removing next primary digester from service. Provide and install mag meter in existing pipe between PD's and SD at Digester Control Building. Provide and install valves, pipe, and fittings between PD HEX pumps and SD at Digester Control Building. Clean existing Pipes between Digester Control Building and PD 1 and PD 2. Bonds required. Prevailing wages.
