Clark Ulliman Schutte Nashville Biosolids JV is looking for interested trade partners in the pre-construction services of the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) project with Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County Central Biosolids Expansion Project is looking for Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) and Women-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE)

Project Description: This Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) project includes a comprehensive expansion of Metro Water Services’ Central Biosolids Facility to accommodate Nashville’s projected growth through 2045. Serving a population of over 700,000, the facility processes solids from the Central and Whites Creek plants into EPA Class A fertilizer pellets. Following the 2024 Biosolids Master Plan, this work addresses the immediate need to increase capacity and restore full process redundancy across the plant’s thickening, digestion, and drying systems.

The project scope is divided into two primary areas of infrastructure expansion and capacity improvement. Scope 1 focuses on expanding thickening, dewatering, and drying capabilities, adding 61 dry tons/day, 106 dry tons/day, and 22,000 lbs/hr of evaporation, respectively. This involves doubling the size of the existing dryer building, demolishing the current administrative building, and repurposing the maintenance shop, all while ensuring new facilities meet 500-year flood protection standards. Mechanical upgrades include new thickening, centrifuge, and thermal drying systems for Class A pellet production, supported by significant site work to relocate underground utilities and a potential rail spur.

Scope 2 targets digestion capacity and connectivity, adding 46 dry tons/day through the construction of new storage digesters and the conversion of an existing storage unit into a process digester with updated covers and mixing systems. Additionally, this scope includes the installation of two 10-inch glass-lined sludge force mains to connect the Whites Creek WRF to the Central WRF.
