Pre-Qualification for Hamlet Bathhouse and Ocean Rescue Facility. Town of Carolina Beach, NC

This project includes the new construction of a 2,840 square foot building on an existing site, located at 102 Hamlet Avenue, Carolina Beach, 28428. The sitework includes general demolition and renovation of existing parking lot adjacent to the building, new concrete sidewalks, and utility connections. The building is a one-story structure that will be constructed with concrete masonry units, pre-engineered wood roof trusses, a concrete slab-on-grade floor, and will be supported by a shallow foundation system. The building will consist of a two-door garage, public restroom facilities, Ocean Rescue office space and associated staff restrooms, and storage. The garage and staff bathrooms will be unconditioned, while the office, staff restrooms, and storage will be conditioned space. The building is located within the AE flood zone. With the finished floor elevations at grade level, the building will require floodproofing measures. The garage will be wet-floodproofed through the use of engineered flood vents. The remaining portion of the building will be dry-floodproofed per FEMA guidelines for a height of 4’-0” Above Finished Floor (A.F.F.) Exterior finish materials will consist of painted Concrete Masonry Unit (CMU) block, painted fiber cement siding/soffits, and a shingle roof with prefinished gutters and downspouts.
