Clean and prime all areas without an existing repair present, down to the original substrate. Any loose rust, mill scale, and paint must be removed by any of the following: hand tool cleaning to include scraping, sanding, and wire brushing; power tool cleaning to include power sanding, power wire brushing, or power grinding; water blasting to include high pressure water blast at not less than 2,000 psi. Wire brush and treat any rusting with a water-based primer. If metal panel finish is Kynar 500 or similar finish additional priming steps may be required. On areas where an existing repair is present contractor to clean and prime repair materials. Any loose or non-adhered previous repairs must be removed and prepared as noted above. At horizontal vertical rise on both sides of all standing seams install a cove bead of compatible sealant At standing seams install a layer of seam sealer base coat over out onto the existing roof 3” then up and over the existing seam to the other side of the standing seam 3” out onto that section of metal roof All other components install base layer over existing repair and an additional 2” onto the roof surface. Fully embed polyester reinforcing fabric into base coat of seam sealer. Fastener repairs to extend 2” up and/or 2” out onto the treated area. Seam sealer second coat over base coat. Bonds required.
