Cumming Academic Building Addition, Atlanta, GA

The project envisions a 30,000 sq. ft. addition to the existing 37,000 sq. ft. facility. It will also enable the full curricula of a limited array of baccalaureate degrees, potentially in high-demand disciplines related to business, technology, health care, and education. The addition will be programmed as a complement to the existing building in order to balance and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the overall space inventory. The new space will increase the scope and breadth of instructional capacity by diversifying specialized instruction space functions, specifically adding a chemistry laboratory and a multi-disciplined laboratory. The introduction of a diverse array of general classroom sizes and configurations will enable increased station occupancy and utilization. Also, the inclusion of a variety of office types and densities will increase both the capacity and the appropriateness of work accommodations for the future mix of full time, part time, and adjunct faculty. Enhanced study and support facilities will ensure continued student success at higher enrollment levels. Bonds required.
