Description
New construction: This a notice of a future Request for Qualifications for Collaborative Design Build Services that will be issued by Cal Poly State University. Respondents will need to be prequalified with the Trustees. Direct any prequalification questions to the Trustees’ Prequalification Administrator at [email protected]. The RFQ will be posted under a separate advertisement. Interested vendors may submit their questions on Public Purchase once the RFQ is posted on Public Purchase.
The request for qualifications will be for Collaborative Design Build Services for the Kennedy Library Renovation. The library is approximately 200,000SF. The Project consists of: Replacement of the Mechanical System, Seismic upgrade of the roof diaphragm and column strengthening; new fire sprinkler, alarm and smoke evacuation systems; roof replacement; elevator upgrades; telecommunication infrastructure improvements; relocation of the main stair; installation of a glass roof over the Atrium; new exterior glazing; LED lighting retrofit; interior renovation; accessibility upgrades; new furniture; associated demolition and abatement.
The Trustees will select a design-build team consisting of a general contractor and architect (Design-Builder) using a two-step process: (1) this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) from which Respondents may submit SOQ to the Trustees, and (2) the Request for Proposals (RFP) which the Trustees will issue to the shortlisted firms. A technical review committee shall review the respondents’ SOQ and, based on the criteria identified in the RFQ, the committee shall select no more than four finalists to receive the Request for Proposals. Selection of the winning Proposer will be based on qualifications and proposed fees (a design competition is not utilized). Collaborative Design-Build is a two-phased delivery process: Design Phase and Design-Build Phase, and the Trustees will issue a separate contract for each phase. The Architect’s selection will be a best-qualification/value process managed by the Design-Builder, working from a short list that is created jointly by the Design-Builder and the Trustees.
