Description

The Mahogany Point project is designed to reduce pinon/juniper density and improve the diversity of age class within curl leaf mahogany. The project area consists of shrublands (sagebrush, curl leaf and mountain mahogany) and Ponderosa pine stands that have been encroached by pinyon/juniper. The identified units will be treated using a mastication-thinning contract. This includes the contractor to furnish labor, equipment, supervision, transportation, operating supplies, and incidentals to properly clear treatment units. Approximately 622 acres of mastication will be treated within the project area and 50 acres of 60-foot wide clear-cut strips will be masticated in the identified mahogany stands. Total acreage may be increased / decreased by up to 15% depending upon available funding and bid cost per acre. Approximate Acreage: 672 acres Access to the site: Access onto the project site is provided by a combination of paved highways, county dirt surface roads and jeep trails. Four (4) wheel drive vehicles are recommended in and around the project area. It will be the contractor’s responsibility to get the equipment to the work site.
