Large Potable Water Valve Replacement Project, Long Beach, CA

Long Beach Water Department solicits this large potable wager valve replacement project - Redondo Ave & Kilroy Airport Way - Phase 2 project. The Work consists of furnishing all labor, equipment and materials necessary to complete the following work: 1. Maintain operation of the Long Beach Groundwater Treatment Plant throughout construction. Maintain operation of all influent and effluent transmission mains. 2. Furnish and maintain traffic control devices throughout potholing and construction. 3. Perform potholing operations to verify location of existing underground utilities and to measure outside diameter of existing large diameter pipelines. 4. Protect in place existing utilities including the 8-inch Crimson crude oil pipeline. 5. Excavate to expose existing large valves and appurtenant piping including linestop locations. 6. Cut interfering segments of existing underground utilities. 7. Remove and legally dispose of hazardous materials found inside abandoned 6-inch gas line and asbestos cement pipe. 8. Construct linestop assemblies, anchor blocks, and temporary bypass pipelines. Pressure test and disinfect temporary bypass pipelines. 9. Perform cleaning of interior and electromagnetic inspection of existing 54-inch SCC transmission pipeline. 10. Stage 1: Remove existing 30-inch gate valve at Location 1 and replace with 30-inch butterfly valve including appurtenant piping, accessories, and assemblies. 11. Stage 1: Remove existing 30-inch gate valve at Location 2 and replace with 30-inch butterfly valve including appurtenant piping, accessories, and assemblies. 12. Stage 1: Remove existing 24-inch gate valve at Location 3 and replace with 24-inch butterfly valve including appurtenant piping, accessories, and assemblies. 13. Stage 2: Remove existing 30-inch gate valve at Location 2 and replace with 30-inch steel spool including accessories, and assemblies. 14. Stage 2: Remove existing 24-inch gate valve at Location 3 and replace with 24-inch butterfly valve including appurtenant piping, accessories, and assemblies. 15. Pressure test and disinfect all improvements. 16. Backfill and recompact all excavations. 17. Restore pavement to preconstruction conditions. Project duration is 180 calendar days. Bonds required.
