Prequalification Design-Build: Renovate Various Cabins, State Parks, Bath & Patrick Counties, VA

The project consist of the renovation of historic cabins and non-historic cabins at 2 State Parks- Douthat and Fairy Stone. At Douthat there are 25 historic log cabins and 5 non historic concrete block cabins and at Fairy Stone there are 8 historic log cabins and 17 non historic concrete block cabins. The cabins range in size from 700 – 1200 square feet each, and consist of one and two bedroom cabins. The scope of renovation work for historic cabins includes all existing trim, doors, windows, log walls and beams, metal hardware, stone fireplaces, stone porch flooring which will be restored in place. New kitchens and bathrooms along with new mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems will be added to the log cabins in the most sensitive manner. Roof coverings will be replaced on all log cabins. On the non historic cabins a complete renovation which will include new kitchens, new bathrooms, flooring, windows, roofing, exterior siding, and new mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems. The overall project will be bid as two separate projects – the Renovation of 30 cabins at Douthat State Park and the Renovation of 25 cabins at Fairy Stone State Park. The pre-qualified contractors will be allowed to bid on one or both Douthat and Fairy Stone cabins. The projects will be bid within a few weeks of each other.
