Upper Madison Avenue Sidewalk Improvement Project, Albany, NY

The project limits for the Upper Madison Avenue Sidewalk Improvement Project is the west side of Madison Avenue from West Lawrence Street to South Allen Street. This area is populated by restaurants and pubs which utilize the sidewalk area for outdoor dining and cafes. This section of Madison Avenue was previously renovated by the City in the Summer of 2002. The project was designed by Vollmer Associates and included the installation of brick paver café areas, concrete sidewalks, tree surrounds and other amenities. Recently, the subbase under the brick pavers in the tree surround areas have begun to fail creating an uneven walking surface. It is proposed to remove the trees and the surrounds along with a section of the sidewalk to renovate the area. The existing granite curbing is to remain. The proposed project limits, 2002 base mapping and 2002 design plans are included in Appendix A of this RFP. Substantial completion June 3, 2022 and final completion June 17, 2022. Deadline for questions is August 18, 2021 by 3:00pm.
