Description
The work to be done under this contract consists of the following work: grinding out existing asphalt and resurfacing a section of May Street starting at the east edge of the May Street and 22nd Street intersection and extending to the west edge of the Rand Road and May Street intersection. Asphalt grinding will entail removal of the top 4" of the full width of the street encompassing approximately 48,000 square feet of roadway. Compaction of any exposed base material and sweeping of the street after grinding is required, and a tack coat of petroleum sealant is required to be installed before application of new asphalt. All grindings can be transported and dumped at the Public Works yard located on 18th Street. Replacement of the 4" of asphalt will be with 4.5" of Level 2, ½" aggregate Dense ACP surface asphalt, PG 64-22 binder asphalt, installed and compacted in two (2) lifts. After paving is complete, the Contractor is required to replace all existing pavement markings with thermo-plastic material, including fog lines, bike lanes, centerline, crosswalks, etc. on the roadway before grinding.
