Description
The City of Yuma is soliciting proposals from qualified Contractors to provide services for
asphalt, concrete, signs, markings maintenance throughout the community. The City of
Yuma is seeking maintenance services, which will be vital for the upkeep of public rights
of way. In the event the City expands its operations during the contract period, the City
reserves the right to deem any new location as being covered under this agreement.
Scope of work: The City desires to pre-qualify those qualified Contractor(s) for Asphalt and Concrete maintenance and repair. It is not necessary to be qualified for all of the below areas however at least two will suffice: Contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, tools, services, skills, traffic control, etc., required to conduct their services throughout the contract period. Maintenance of concrete and asphalt shall include but not be limited to repairing buckled sidewalks, asphalt patches, pothole repairs, utility repairs, pavement
markings, signage, raising and lowering valve and manholes, saw cutting concrete and asphalt, installing manhole and valve collars, washouts, installing aggregate base coarse, handicap ramps, inlets, outlets, walls, roadways and parking lots and general cleanup. The intent is to maintain an acceptable appearance of the asset as determined by City. Any discrepancies in the understanding of this clause shall be resolved in a manner as determined by City. Asphalt and concrete maintenance service objectives will be enhancing such streets or sidewalks, handicap ramps or other determined work. The work would consist of the following: remove/replace pavement sections of asphalt roadways or parking lots, remove/replace/repair concrete inlets, outlets, walls, and sidewalks, raise and lower water valves and manholes, remove/replace repair asphalt utility cuts, edge grinding and repairs, install bus stop shade structures (provided by the City or transportation agency), install traffic signs and markings, contractor personnel job walks and generates an electronic work order for City approval prior to start. To include Pre and Post construction photos, Arizona 811 management (Blue Stake), and at reasonable intervals during the progress of the work, clean up and disposal of waste materials and debris on the project site will be required. Waste materials and debris must be disposed of at a legally established facility, or as directed by the City. The Contractor will be responsible for, and pay all costs for periodic and final cleanup of the site during construction. The Contractor will be responsible for all spills, dust control measures, left over materials, and site clean-up of all areas selected for storage. In case of a spill, the Contractor shall follow the leak and spill containment recommendation on the specific products Material Safety Data Sheet. The City may assist the Contractor in locating storage areas when deemed necessary. Maintaining Traffic and Notification: The Contractor must provide all traffic control and traffic control devices for the project. The Contractor will use the latest version of Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices for all traffic control set up. All traffic control devices must be properly maintained for cleanliness, visibility, corrects positioning, and should have adequate retro reflectivity. All traffic control devices that are damaged, deteriorated, or have lost significant legibility, must be promptly replaced. Trained and knowledgeable traffic control personnel will be utilized to insure a proper set-up of material and maintenance of traffic control devices. A traffic control plan must be submitted upon request from the City Staff and may be supplemented by the City Traffic Engineer or Public Works Manager if conditions warrant. The Contractor is responsible for all notification to the effected business and or residents. Notification shall be in English and Spanish, point of contact with a return phone number and the dates of projected work. Contractor will be required to maintain the appropriate Arizona Contractor’s License and have fully trained service/maintenance technicians completely familiar with the scope of work and desired results when performing Asphalt and Concrete Maintenance Service.
